Mr. De'Andre E. Weekes attended James Madison High School in Houston, Texas where he graduated in the top 10% of his class in 2014. Following graduation, Mr. Weekes was afforded the opportunity, by way of scholarships, to attend Jackson State University where he received his Bachelor's in Music Education emphasis on Piano. Furthermore, in 2022 after graduating from Jackson State University, Mr. Weekes began and is currently in his music career as the head band director at Holmes County Central High School in Lexington,Mississippi. Going into his second year of teacher in 2023, Mr. Weekes managed to double the size of his marching band having 55 musicians within the ensemble as well as create and start the symphonic band. In December of 2024, Mr. Weekes accomplishment another milestone by completing his Master's degree in Music Education at Jackson State University.
At the early age of 2, Mr. Weekes's father realized one of the gifts that was inside of De'Andre, so he allowed him to play the drums in the church. Through the years of playing drums, Mr. Weekes gain the skills to play piano by ear. Allow playing by ear is great, he knew he needed to elevated his gift so he started to take lesson during school as well as after school to learn how to read music and become proficient. As the years progressed, entering into high school, Mr. Weekes learned to play all instruments that were in the marching band to the point to where he could teach incoming members. During his high school years, Mr. Weekes picked up the writer's pen and began to arrange and compose music for various schools. Entering into undergrad at JSU, Mr. Weekes played the sousaphone in the World Famous "Sonic Boom of the South", and at this point his musical career, in his opinion, started.
While in college, Mr. Weekes was granted the opportunity to work with Jim Hill High School's Marching Band in the form of arranging music, writing halftime drills, teaching music/marching fundamentals and more. Mr. Weekes was able to travel to many places to gain wisdom and knowledge to help cultivate his musical gift. Today Mr. Weekes has 12 years of arranging experience, 3 years of half-time drill writing experience, has arranged music and wrote drills for both high schools and college bands around the country, hosted multiple clinics, build a marching band program, and so much more.
